What is Atlas Health & Fitness?

One of the reasons why I named my business Atlas Health & Fitness was for my love of travel. I love experiencing new places and if you’ve been following me on Instagram (laura.melgar.fitness) since the pre-Rona days, you know I also love a good adventure out in the middle of nowhere.

Nowhere typically means that there is little to no access of gyms or studios. That’s why I love Pilates. It can go with you anywhere because all you need is your body and I make sure that even when I travel I keep it in my routine. Pilates is not just a “create long lean muscles” workout to me., it’s a do everything in life better workout. It helps to increase my stability so I don’t twist my ankle or tweak my knee on a hike. It helps to keep my core strong so that I can go kayaking or paddle boarding on a whim. It is strength, endurance, stability & proprioception all in one that can be done anywhere. Basically, it helps me living a fun life without having to worry about being strong enough to do those once in a lifetime adventures.

That is why I created Atlas Health & Fitness. A training program that is helps you live life to it’s fullest extent. To keep life fun whether it’s keeping up with your little one, being around for your grandkids, or being able to day yes to the adventures that are out there. I am here for you.

With gyms closed again Pilates and body weight training are the way to go to keep up our strength and endurance. Virtual sessions are a great workout and they offer a personalized experience from the comfort of your home. There is no social distancing, disinfecting equipment shared by multiple people or masks while working out. It is perfect for helping maintain or improve our level of fitness, so that when the gym reopens we can hit the ground running. Keep up the momentum and message me about 1:1 virtual Pilates sessions. On a side note- what’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Tell me in the comments below!

Laura Melgar

Hi! I’m Laura Melgar, a San Diego based Pilates Instructor + Personal Trainer. I help men and women bounce back from injury so they can do more of what they love: running, rock climbing, hiking, and living life to the fullest without injuries.

I’ve recovered from several surgeries (including a hip labral tear repair from playing rugby) and went from being medically told to give up my active hobbies to becoming a half marathoner.

Outside of fitness I am a dog mom, I love video games and adventuring & traveling with my husband.

My goal is to help you rebuild confidence in your body's movement, improve your strength, and help reduce your pain.
